About Me

A marketing communications professional with more than 15 years experience in retail and marketing, Helen has specialised in mobile marketing and media and in particular how to initiate and leverage customer relationships by using the mobile phone for the last 7 years. Helen was at the birth of the mobile marketing industry in 2000 as head of customer experience at ZagMe, the location based mobile marketing pioneer. Here she recruited more than 85,000 customers in Lakeside and Bluewater shopping malls and ran more than 1,500 SMS (text message) marketing campaigns for over 150 leading retail clients, agencies and brands including Esprit, Nike, TopShop, HMV and Waterstone’s.

Today, Helen runs her own mobile marketing and media consultancy, BeepMarketing, developing mobile strategies, looking at product and service development, distribution and channel marketing and creating mobile media and implementing mobile marketing campaigns using a range of mobile technologies for many blue-chip and agency clients including Teletext, NewsCorp, Scottish Courage, UIP, Sony Ericsson, Emap, Samsung, Direct Line, ENO (English National Opera) and Danone.

She runs Swedish Beers, an adhoc mobile networking event in London and Barcelona and is also a founder member of Women in Mobile Data, a global association for women working in mobile.

Helen speaks regularly on the hot topic of mobile marketing and media at seminars, conferences and networking events around the world. Helen also runs mobile marketing courses at the Institute of Direct Marketing, Academy Internet, e-consultancy and New Media Knowledge and is a guest lecturer in marketing at the Universities of Westminster, Newcastle and Hertfordshire. And when she's not doing that she writes a popular blog about mobile marketing and media under the pseudonym Technokitten.

Major achievements

Developed and ran a live stage show and training seminar roadshow to drive change within a major UK public transport company involving 30,000 UK staff

Relaunched a major retail brand (fashion) within the UK and Europe with a special responsibility for training, customer service and operations

Created new branding and marketing materials for a major telecoms infrastructure provider

Set up and managed marketing, sales and operations for mobile marketing pioneer, ZagMe

Developed customer service training materials for a global parcel courier company

Developed and ran leadership coaching seminars for a blue-chip transport company

Created the world’s first mobile marketing course in conjunction with the Institute of Direct Marketing in the UK in early 2002

First Class Honours in Business Studies from the University of Westminster
